Different versions 7

Brothers in Arms by Dire Straits is one of my favourite songs and normally I don’t like covers of my favourite songs so I was a little skeptical when I saw a cover version by a group of Gregorian monks called Gregorian. Turns out though that whilst it’s not as good as the original it does have something likeable about it and the voices of the monks fit the song very well.

Brothers in Arms was originally on the Dire Straits album Brothers in Arms and the cover is taken from Gregorian’s album Masters of Chant.

Comments are back

As the new version of Wordpress now has threaded comments I’ve decided to switch back from using the forum to host the comments. Rather than having a page full of comments which can be confusing if you’re having a discussion with somebody you can now respond directly to their comment and have all replies grouped together.

If you want to reply to the post just use the comment box as usual but if you want to reply to a specific comment you just need to click the reply link in that comments box.

I’ve also upgraded the sites theme to the latest version of Aerodrome which can be found here. It still doesn’t play too well with Internet Explorer though so if you want to see it how it was intended use another browser such as Firefox or Safari.

If it’s your sort of thing have a listen to Akanoid’s Cocktail Pop album.

Kiss a Wookie, kick a droid

Link submitted by Sidney Moontar you fool.

Ever wondered what it would sound like if you sang lines from the original Star Wars Trilogy but based them on some of John Williams other movie work? Probably not but the people at Moosebutter did and in 1999 they released this. If your a Star Wars fan you’ll probably enjoy it, if you’re a movie fan you can play guess the movie theme and if your neither then you should find something else to do.

If you prefer there is also this video version which was released in 2008.

With a new Ghostbusters game coming out soon and hopefully a new film now feels like a good time to share a Ghostbusters cover version. Since being sung originally by Ray Parker Jr it has been covered a number of times including by a Crazy Frog type turtle but my favourite version is by Xentrix.

So here is Ghostbusters covered by Xentrix as taken from their 1989 album Shattered Existence.
